Bob Schaal PT, MBA
President & CEO

With experience in both hospital administration and private practice, Bob offers a unique skill set when it comes to establishing and managing outpatient physical therapy units.  Currently, he serves as Executive Director of a major midwestern orthopedic hospital affiliated with a leading university health care system. He is accountable for operations and results of the orthopedic unit as well as all therapy services and durable medical equipment throughout the entire health care system. 

Previous professional experience includes several years as owner and operator of one of the largest regional physical therapy providers in Missouri. Upon leaving private practice, Bob served in executive leadership positions for a start-up national health care company in which he was responsible for development and operations of new facilities, services, programs and product lines.

Bob received his Physical Therapy degree from the University of Missouri (Magna Cum Laude), in addition to a Bachelor of Science degree in Health Services Management. He earned his MBA from Western Governors University in 2015.

Ryan Schaal PT, DPT
Vice President/Operations

Ryan brings eight years of professional experience to the OPTima team, in both private practice and hospital settings. Upon graduating with a Bachelor of Arts in Health Sciences from Graceland University and a Doctorate of Physical Therapy from the University of Missouri, Ryan began his professional career as a physical therapist with the Missouri Orthopaedic Institute. Since then, he has held several positions within the University of Missouri Health Care system, including Network Development Coordinator for the Missouri Orthopaedic Institute. In this role, Ryan worked with orthopaedic surgeons as well as the physical therapy department to grow and expand services and referrals. In addition, he identified locations for potential growth and expansion of orthopaedic and therapy services.

Most recently, Ryan served as General Manager of Mid-America Rehab in Cape Girardeau, MO. There, he supervised four physical therapists, three PT assistants and the office staff. His responsibilities included management of all clinical operations, including therapy services, scheduling, staffing, productivity and quality control.
